About Top Cat Guide

Top Cat Guide grew from frustrations we had as cat parents. The overdose of information and misinformation is rampant. We have personally been harmed by it and our ignorance. We sought to create a repository of the knowledge we learnt so no one had to go through the pain and confusion that we went through. We love our cats and know you do too. For the many out there who seek responsible cat care advice – welcome to Top Cat Guide. We are here to cat care and share 🙂

We are conducting a survey on cat nutrition and activity. Here is the survey link:

The people behind the cats

Neha Suvarna

Neha Suvarna

Cat owned

Neha is a writer and mother of 3 beautiful cats. From a person who feared cats to now, her transformation is remarkable. Neha’s love of cats began with Mira and continues to grow stronger every day. Today she can’t think of a life without her rescues and wonders why she was ever scared. Neha dreams of owning a farmhouse with lots of space to run a shelter for stray cats someday.

Divya Suvarna

Divya Suvarna

Cat Godmother

While Divya has converted most of her family to cat lovers, she attributes this to her first cats Jugni and Bagheera. Thanks to them, she can never unsee another cat again. Formerly rescuing cats, Divya now feeds strays in her locality, tends to their medical needs and neuters them. When she is not drawing, she is reading about cat wellbeing and natural remedies for cat health issues.

Amit Suvarna

Amit Suvarna

Fur marked

Amit Suvarna is a self-employed marketer and full-time cat parent. He was initially opposed to cats and shooed them away. One day, he unwittingly fell so deeply in cat love that he hasn’t recovered since. Now he is adept in cat speak, paw games and creating spaces for his cats to sleep.  He also walks around with cat food, feeding strays and making friends with them when he should be working.

The Cats themselves

Bagheera

Bagheera

Bagheera, a grandfather cat by nature, has had a part in nurturing all new kittens that have come into our life. His love for kittens is only second to his love for his sister Jugni and fish. Bagheera is sometimes seen stealing his human’s undies and zooming across the house with them. He loves watching his human, play wrestling with Bodhi and troubling his sister Jugni. He enjoys interactive string play and disapproves when his human has too much work and no time to play.

Jugni

Jugni

Jugni is headstrong, independent and the queen of the household. At 3 weeks old Jugni took on the mothers role to her sibling Bagheera, preening him, teaching him the ways of cat life and to trust their human. Jugni likes spending time alone or with her human, sitting among the plants, playing with tape balls, chasing Bodhi, sunbathing and watching the world. She thinks her human is her personal cat tree and sometimes scales her with unbelievable ease.

Mira

Mira

Mira came to us with a diaphragmatic hernia and laboured breathing. She has been under the surgeon’s knife and now lives happily with Akki and her humans. She is still adjusting to Zuzu in the household though and doesn’t like outsiders in her space. An extremely chatty cat, Mira converses and plays hide and seek with her humans regularly. She enjoys play wrestling with Akki, full body rubs, massages and just sitting pretty.

Akki

Akki

Akki is the buddy cat. Right from a young age, she could befriend any cat even if they were initially aggressive with her. She is still trying to befriend Zuzu.  Akki is an active little cat who never gives up, especially on food. When she’s not eating, she is stalking insects, meticulously calculating their demise, destroying all forms of paper and cardboard and finding random little trinkets to play with.

Bodhi

Bodhi

Bodhi came into our lives malnourished and suffering from a severe upper respiratory infection when he was a wee babe. All grown up but still dealing with the aftermath of the infection, his zest for life is unparalleled. Bodhi is a crow chatterer, lizard torturer and insect hunter extraordinaire. Despite being overweight, Bodhi zooms like the Flash and has been known to catch insects with a single paw.

Zuzu

Zuzu

Zuzu is an adult stray female who walked into our heart and we let her inside our home as well. She had two litters out there and despite being fiercely protective lost them both. She’s been with us since. She hasn’t warmed up to her flatmates Mira and Akki yet. Zuzu loves being taken for walks, follows her humans around without a leash and returns home even if she wanders off. She’s a cat-dog and we love her for it.Â
